Title: Prevention of Noise-Induced Hearing Loss

Speaker: James Craner, MD, MPH

This webinar with James Craner, MD, MPH, examines the effectiveness of hearing conservation programs

and interventions, regulatory compliance reporting, and best practices for hearing loss prevention.

On completion of this webinar participants will be able to:

  • Understand the need for and barriers to objectively measuring of the actual effectiveness of hearing conservation programs and interventions.
  • Understand the purpose of a “Standard Threshold Shift” as a regulatory compliance reporting outcome, and its inherent limitations as a preventive medical surveillance metric.
  • Define audiometric database analysis (ADBA) and understand the reasons why this methodology has never been validated or adopted by industry or regulatory agencies.
  • Learn how a patent-pending method for statistically analyzing audiometric data to measure individual and aggregate trends in workers’ hearing, integrated into a health and safety compliance information technology system, offers a practical tool for employers to achieve Best Practices for hearing loss prevention.
